  Bank of England policymakers were split at their October meeting over the need to boost the economy further and unemployment dropped in August, BoE minutes and data showed, casting doubt over future action by the central bank. The nine members of the Bank's Monetary Policy Committee voted unanimously to maintain the quantitative easing asset purchases at a total of GBP375bn and to keep interest rates at their record low of 0.5 percent.

  Saudi-based Jarir Marketing Co. said it will distribute dividends to the value of SAR138mn (USD36.8mn) at SAR2.3 a share. The dividend distribution represents 23 percent of the company's capital and comes as its 3Q net profit rose 5.1 percent reaching SAR160.7mn compared to the year earlier.

  Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports fell to the lowest level in 12 months reaching SAR10.8bn (USD2.9bn) in August, down 22.7 percent from SAR13.9bn (USD3.7bn) in the year earlier, data from the Central Department of Statistics and Information, or CDSI, showed. Exports of plastic products ranked first, accounting for 40.31 percent of total non-oil exports, while petrochemical products were the second largest constituent accounting for 28.78 percent, followed by foodstuffs which accounted for 8.39 percent, the data showed.

  Saudi Savola Group ups stake in Almarai to 36.5 percent

  Saudi-based Savola Group has raised its stake in fellow Saudi food firm Almarai Co. to 36.5 percent by purchasing shares worth SAR2bn (SAR533mn), Savola said in a statement. The purchase, which increases its holding in the company from 29.95 percent, was "in line with the group's strategy of further growing its exposure in its core sectors, of which the foods sector is one of them," Abdulraouf M. Mannaa, group managing director at Savola, said in the statement.

  British inflation fell to its lowest in almost three years in September flattered by sharp price rises for gas and electricity a year earlier, but factory gate prices rose at a faster pace. Consumer price inflation may accelerate again in coming months as four of Britain's biggest energy suppliers have announced price rises of around 6 to 9 percent. The Office for National Statistics said that annual consumer price inflation stood at 2.2 percent last month as forecast - the lowest since November 2009.

  Saudi Aramco say Manifa oil field start production in first half of 2013

  State-oil giant Saudi Arabian Oil Co., known as Saudi Aramco, said it expects its large-scale Manifa oil field, which has capacity to produce 900,000 barrels a day of heavy crude, to start up production in the first half of 2013. The field will have an initial capacity of 500,000 barrels per day of Arabian heavy crude in the first half of 2013, which will gradually increase to 900,000 barrels per day by 2014, Aramco said in a statement posted on its website.

  U.S. industrial output rises 0.4 percent in September

  U.S. industrial output rose by more than expected in September, posting a sharp rebound from a downwardly revised drop the previous month. Industrial production rose by 0.4 percent. Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast a 0.2 percent rise compared to a 1.4 percent decline in August. This was initially reported as a 1.2 percent drop. Manufacturing output rose by 0.2 percent, utilities output was up 1.5 percent and mining output advanced 0.9 percent in September.

  France Telecom buys service contract from Egyptian partner

  France Telecom will pay Egyptian partner Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT) EUR110mn (USD142.30mn) for taking over a management services contract for their mobile phone venture Mobinil. Egypt is a key part of France Telecom's efforts to expand in high-growth emerging markets such as Africa and the Middle East. It bought most of OTMT's stake in Mobinil this year for EGP19bn (USD3.11bn), lifting its majority stake to 94 percent.
